Week of Action!!

Over the last fortnight our school has been a hive of activity from building and filling ponds, planting 10 apple trees and 1,500 native Irish hedgerow trees! We would like to extend thanks to Margaret Geoghegan for donating wood and water lilies to our pond! Thanks to Mr Hickey and our fabulous caretaker John for digging it out and to Ms Fennelly's class for collaborating as a team to fill the pond using any and every available bucket, bin and watering can!

Our habitat map has been brought to life with the help of the Green School's committee members, Ms Dineen and Ms Fennelly.

We also had the pleasure of the CBS transition years joining us this week to help the classes plant the trees. It has been so fantastic to have the help of the community during this project; Newpark residents, KKB volunteers, the entire school staff and of course all of the children of St John's.

We cannot wait to see our garden turn green in the coming weeks, hear the buzz of bees and maybe even spot some frogs in our pond!!

It is all systems go for the application for our Biodiversity flag.
